Birdflu Protection

The bird flu is something we hear a lot about on the news and on the web.  But, is what they say really true?  What is true is that you can not believe everything that you hear.  In the case of the bird flu, you should know the facts, if nothing else.  Knowledge is very important.  For most people, it is a case in which those that are in need of knowing will not know though.  Many of those that have been infected with the bird flu are those that work hand in hand with birds in lower classes of income.  Many of them have been chicken farmers or others that work with birds.  Does this mean that it won’t happen to you though?

Facts To Know About The Bird Flu

•    The bird flu as it stands right now is not capable of being transmitted from one person to another person.  Right now, it can only move from an infected animal to a person.  Generally, this only happens to those that are working with the animals themselves.
•    The bird flu is a virus.  Viruses mutate quickly and can easily become something that is much more deadly.  The bird flu virus, H5N1 is a deadly strain of Influenza A.  Many scientists believe that the bird flu will be able to mutate into a form that can be transmitted from person to person within time.
•    The bird flu is moving through parts of Asia, Europe and Africa.  It has not crossed oceans, yet.  It is likely that it will especially if it does mutate into a human to human virus.  In this case, an infected person traveling from one country to the next can transmit it.
•    The bird flu will likely become something that infects humans.  It is estimated that in the worst case scenario, 150 million people will perish from all parts of the world due to the bird flu if and when it makes this mutation.
•    There are over 88 governments across the world, including most world powers, that are working on protection, planning and containing the bird flu virus.  They are trying to help keep the bird flu from spreading to other birds, to humans as well as producing medications that can fight it.

Should you be worried about the bird flu?  Probably, but especially if you learn that it has mutated into this much more lethal form of being able to move from a human to another human.  Hopefully, enough preventative measures will be in place to keep this from becoming the pandemic that it can be.
